SKIING

CARRYING SKIS

The easiest way to carry skis is, to put the skis together so that they are base to base and lock the brakes, so they won't slide apart. Then take the skis and put them on your shoulder, with the area just in front of the bindings resting on your shoulder, and one hand pushing down on the front end of the skis. Hold your poles together in the other hand, as shown in the graphic on the right. When you do this it is important to make sure the brakes on the skis are locked together so that the ski on top can not slide forwards, otherwise the skis can come apart while you are carrying them.

When carrying skis like this please be careful not to swing the skis around while you walk, as this can be very dangerous, and be aware of the back of the skis when you go around corners. It can also be quite hard to walk in ski boots, as you cannot move your ankles much and don't have so much grip. Again meaning that extra care needs to be taken while carrying skis.
